Know your Texas Holdem Poker hands

If you want to play poker it's essential to learn the poker hand ranking system that's standard across all variants of the game. In Texas Holdem Poker each player is dealt 2 starting cards known as hole cards, this is followed by 5 community cards which are dealt in 3 stages face-up (The Flop, The Turn and The River). Each player has to make the best possible hand with their own hole cards and any of the community cards available. Players can bet/call, raise or fold after each stage, once the final stage is complete the remaining hands are compared and the winning hand is determined by the universal hand ranking system listed below.

10. High Card

Any five cards will give you a high card, essentially no other hand is made.

9. One Pair

One pair is a poker hand that contains two cards of one rank, higher ranking pairs defeat lower ranking pairs.

6. Straight
